Ok, so everyone has their very own piece of heaven right here on earth. You know that little town that seems to be something out of a dream or a postcard? Well I’m sure I’ll be having a bunch of little pieces of heaven but for now, my little heaven on earth is Lagos, Portugal! This coastal town is so picturesque your eyes don’t know what to look at because if you blink you might miss something or worse, forget it! But as beautiful as this great town it the food is like a vacation for your palette!. Everything from the fresh catch of the day, two warm home made bread dipped in olive oil, to small yellow potatoes meant to eat whole and in one swift bite, as a self proclaimed foodie Portugal was satisfying my ferocious appetite. Portugal is known for its Seafood culture and meats so definitely enjoy a catch of the day meal or juicy steak. Prices for dining out in Lagos, are family affordable and most meals come with a glass of wine, which is a plus. is So if you find your self in the Algarve here are my top pics for must try restaurants/bars offering awesome views, great vibes and friendly smiles.
#1 MAR Restaurant and Bar
We accidentally passed by this restaurant while on our way to a beach, perfectly situated on a hill top. What drew me in was the view from the restaurant. When we were finished at the beach we decided to stop at Mar’s for lunch and it met every one of my expectations. The decor was modern chic and cozy and it definitely had an energetic vibes. after being seated and skimming through the menu I kept glancing over at fresh fish the restaurant had out and I was unsure what that was about. SO I asked the waiter about it and he walked me over and told me I can pick whatever fish I would like and they prepare it however I liked. Talk about fresh!. I chose to have it grilled and de-boned served with a side of potatoes and salad and pitcher of white sangria, because why not? Im on a vacation.. This fit for a king meal, coupled with an amazing view and cool ocean breeze was the absolute perfect end to my beach day.
#2 The Garden Bar and Grill
We discover this little gem while strolling along the many windy streets discovering all that this little town had to offer. I literally was like a bear following the smell of food cooking on a grill. This restaurant was a bit off the main road or trafficked tourist area and almost had a feel that its the local or frequent visitors spot. We decided to give it a try and was not disappointed! It has an eclectic, bohemian type of decor all out in a garden type of atmosphere. This was actually the first time we had fish while in Lagos and it opened up my appetite for more. The food was like a party in my mouth, truly filling and satisfying.

#3 Branson’s Steak and Shellfish
SO after eating all that fish a girl was craving some good MEAT!! And Branson was the perfect fix for that craving. The restaurant was tucked away in a local suburban neighborhood with only condominiums as neighbors. Bransons was a short walk from our hotel and with the address and GPS in hand, finding the restaurant was a breeze, sorta of felt like a local. As soon as I open the door I was hit with the aroma of meat cooking on a charcoal grill! The restaurant wasn’t packed and seemed to host mostly locals. I had worked up an appetite all day. There were so many great options and choices to pick from but we settled on a sampler with a salad and roasted potatoes for sides. Three complimentary steak sauce were given with our order as well and it amplified the flavor of the steak. I’m not sue if I even chewed my food because everything was good

#4 Delhi Darbar
As part of our quest to try the most delicious food on vacation we kept getting flyers from a friendly Indian girl to come and have dinner at her family owned Indian restaurant. Now I’m sure you are thinking exactly what I thought, “indian food in Portugal? How does that work? So in an effort to try something new we decided to give it a try and was surprised to see that there were hardly any empty tables and thought this must be a good sign.
All the servers were extremely friendly and the food was even better. Everything we ordered was well seasoned in all the Indian spices I’ve grown to know and love.
We ordered the Lamb Biryani, garlic Naan, chicken tandoori, chicken tikka.
