As a graduation gift (with my Masters) for myself I booked a trip to Europe with my boyfriend, Chris, to Amsterdam and then to Portugal. When going to Europe I think its best to visit as many cities as possible since most European countries are a simple and convenient train ride away. When deciding to go to Amsterdam, for obvious reasons lol, as well as it majestic architecture, I immediately started researching which neighboring countries I can visit in a day, and Paris was the obvious choice. I mean who does not LOVE Paris!..
HOW TO GET THERE
I knew Europe had an extensive train system so I begun doing my research on their railway system and settle on NSinternational. I purchased my ticket about 3 months in advance to ensure I get a good deal and I’ll suggest you do the same if possible. The website is pretty simple to navigate and made purchasing a breeze.
THINGS TO DO
So you’ve made it to PARIS!!! WHOOHOO!! Now what? Don’t worry I’ve got you covered on all Paris MUST see attractions and how to do it.
In order to maximize your time I suggest purchasing a hop on hop off bus tour. These tours have already mapped out bus routes and allows you to go at your own pace. There are a few tours to choose from but the one I chose was Open Tour Paris.
I didn’t purchase my bus tour pass directly from the site but instead from Viator . I chose this tour company because it operated on 3 lines ( red, blue and green)and the stopped at all the major attractions I wanted to see.
MUST SEE
Lourve Musem
Since we only had a day in Paris unfortunately we did not get the chance to go inside to see any exhibitions and historical collections inside the museum. so we just opted to walk around and of course take awesome pictures.
Arc de Triomphe
The arc de triomphe is a historical monumental the end of Champs-Élysées and a must see while in Paris. It is open most days from 10:00 – 22:30 but has specific days of closures that varies each year, so plan ahead.
Norte Dame
Unfortunately Notre Dame was closed due to the devastating fire that destroyed a majority of its infrastructure and I presume it would remain closed for months to come but we still made our way to even be in its presence though we couldn’t get very close.
Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower is inherently synonymous with Paris so it is an absolute must while in Paris. Of course while doing my research I found out that the Trocadero is the best place to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower , giving you a stunning view of the the full tower in your pic. Be aware it is littered with solicitors trying to make you buy all sorts of trinkets and do-da’s. We actually had one of these “vendors” take awesome pics of us and even gave us cute poses, sort of like our own little photo-shoot.
After taking a few pics and buying a quick snack we made our way down to the base of the tower. Unfortunately we went right after, there was shooting incident in Paris so the lawn was blocked off to tourist to just sit and lounge around. We weren’t able to walk under the Eiffel Tower unless we purchased tickets to enter because I can guess to new security measures in and around the tower.
Final Thoughts
We got it all done in a day but definitely wish we had more time to really take in this magical city!
